The chromium content of high chromium cast iron is w(Cr)=11%-28%. Cr can be dissolved in ferrite to form carbides. Since high-chromium cast iron is a high-temperature 

wear-resistant cast iron, the addition of chromium improves wear resistance, and a dense Cr2O3 protective film is formed on the surface of the casting, which can be used 

to manufacture wear-resistant castings working at temperatures higher than 800 °C.
