PDC Bit Cutters Drilling Application
The PDC bit cutter is a diamond composite bit, which has high hardness, so it has been widely used in hard formations of oil drilling. The advantages of PDC drills are mainly
focused on the simple structure and high wear resistance of the drill.
The artificial diamond used by the PDC drill bit has higher wear resistance than the cemented carbide. In the structure of the drill bit, the cutting teeth are its main component.
In the work, the drill bit is not required to drill itself. Therefore, the PDC drill bit is also called a fixed probe. .
In the use of PDC bits in petroleum drilling operations, not all geological environments can exert the maximum effect, and in the specific use process, different PDC bit types
need to be selected based on different geological environments. It mainly includes the following factors:
1) Rock particle size. The way that PDC drills use to cut rock during the drilling process, so the larger the particle size of the rock, the higher the wear of the drill bit. For soft
formations, rocks The larger the particle size, the faster the rotation speed.
2) The plasticity of the rock. The greater the plasticity, the lower the rotation speed.
3) If the hardness of the formation is still large, the rotation speed is lower. Low.
4) Bit specific pressure. The higher the specific pressure, the higher the speed.
In summary, PDC bits are suitable for geological environments with medium hardness and below, low plasticity, small particle size, and high specific pressure of the bit.
