Influence of PDC Diamond Compact and Its Parameters on Product Properties

PDC (polycrystalline Diamond Compact) is synthesized by sintering diamond micropowder and special cemented carbide under high temperature and high pressure. It adopts a unique production and testing process to make the product have good wear resistance, self-sharpness and impact resistance. Used in the fields of oil and gas drilling and development and geological drilling. PDC not only retains the basic characteristics of single crystal diamond, but also has its own unique characteristics such as disordered arrangement of crystal grains and isotropy. It is both an engineering material and a new type of engineering material.

When the rock formation changes from soft to hard, the requirements of PDC bits for working parameters are also different. Using appropriate drilling process parameters can extend the life of the bit and increase the mechanical drilling speed.With the increase of the weight on bit, the stress of the drill bit and the stress of the rock layer increase rapidly.

When drilling in hard rock formations, increasing the bit pressure can increase the attack power of the PDC bit and speed up the mechanical drilling speed, but the maximum local stress experienced by the decreasing of the tool life of the  drill bit.
