Surface Quality of Dry Cutting of PCBN Tools

The hard turning of PCBN tools generally produces residual compressive stress below the surface layer of the part. Compressive stress helps to improve the surface's fatigue resistance, which is also a good performance of PCBN tools. When using PCBN tools, attention should be paid to the selection of processing conditions. The amount of cutting has little effect on the distribution of residual stress, and the tool structure has a great influence on the distribution of residual stress. Especially the geometric parameters of chamfering need to be carefully selected.
