The cutting speed is mainly selected according to the material to be processed. PCBN inserts have the characteristics of being afraid of softness, not
hardness, and mainly processing hard and brittle materials. When cutting hardened steel with hardness HRC55~65, the cutting speed is 120~300m/min,
the cutting depth ap is generally less than 0.3mm, the feed is generally not more than 0.2mm/r; the cutting speed of cutting gray cast iron is 400~ 1200m/min,
the cutting depth ap is generally less than 3mm, the feed rate is generally not more than 0.5mm / r; the cutting speed of cutting chilled hard alloy cast iron is
40 ~ 120m / min, the cutting depth ap is generally less than 5mm, the feed is generally not More than 0.8mm / r. The PCBN cutting hard and brittle material is
softened by softening the metal in a small area in the cutting zone. When the cutting speed is too low, the high temperature resistance of the PCBN tool cannot
be exerted.
