The Requirements of PCBN Inserts for the CNC Machine
Since the PCBN tool is more brittle than the carbide inserts, it has higher requirements on the machine tool's process system.
The preferred requirement is that the machine tool spindle has a small yaw, the tool holder and the entire machining system are rigid, and the machine tool vibration
is required to be small.
Because vibrations in processing engineering often cause chipping and breakage of PCBN inserts. In general, the smaller the rigidity of the machine tool, the greater
the vibration and the lower the tool life. Although CBN inserts are more brittle than carbide inserts and have lower chemical stability than ceramics inserts, PCBN tools
have higher impact strength and crush resistance than ceramic inserts. Relative to ceramic tools, PCBN tools can be slightly less rigid when cutting hardened metals.
