There are many aspects to pay attention to in use.

1) Diamond turning inserts should be used on precision lathes, and can also be used on ordinary lathes with good accuracy and low vibration, but must use a small vibration 

lathes with stable speed.

2) When the diamond tool is installed, the tip must be at the same height as the center of rotation of the steel part, the smoothing edge is parallel to the cutting direction, and

carefully checked and trial cut with a 5x magnifying glass. The cutting can only be performed after adjustment.

3) The diamond turning tool is a precision cutting tool. The radius of the tool's cutting edge arc increases, affecting the surface quality of the workpiece after cutting, so pay 

attention to observation during cutting. When the diamond insert is sharp, the chip is complete and the deformation is small, and the workpiece surface is smooth. After the 

insert is blunt, the chip

is deformed and there is a phenomenon of squeezing and tearing. There is obvious burr on the workpiece at the cutting out of the tool.

4) After the workpiece rotates, the tool tip can contact the surface of the workpiece; the tool tip must never stop before the tool tip leaves the workpiece, so as not to damage

the tool tip.In order to effectively control the cutting depth, a dial indicator can be placed on the middle carriage.

5)Cutting speed is generally (80-150) m / min, if the machine tool meets the requirements of precision cutting, you can also choose a higher cutting speed. The cutting depth

is (0.01-0.2) mm. When the surface roughness of the workpiece is less than 0.05 micron Ra, ap <0.01 mm. The feed amount is generally (0.02-0.04) mm / r. During the cutting 

process, the workpiece and the tool are sufficiently cooled to remove chips.

6) General conditions In the roughing process, the power of the machine tool and the ability of rigidity and iron filings are often restricted. If you choose the best cutting parameters,

the maximum metal removal rate will be greatly improved. The combination of required feed and low cutting speed, like the effective power of the machine tool, is also something we

have to consider. Sometimes when the power of the machine tool is too low, the use of diamond turning tools is not smooth. We need to select the feed and speed It is necessary to 

reduce the cutting speed to a certain degree to obtain a suitable power.
