Effect of Ti (C, N) binder on the performance of PCBN Composite Insert
The performance of PCBN composite insert plays a decisive role in the quality of PCBN tools. The PCBN tool made of metal plus ceramic bond composite sheet has the advantages of metal and ceramic bond, and at the same time compensates for the high temperature softening of metal bond and the poor resistance of ceramic bond to impact.
Ti(C,N) combines the advantages of TIC and TIN, has high melting point and high hardness, and has good thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and chemical stability. Al is one of the most commonly used PCBN binder elements with a lower melting point. Under high temperature and pressure conditions, CBN can react chemically in a wide range of temperature and pressure to produce sufficient activation and sintering. Substances such as AlN are inhibitors of the hexagonalization of CBN. The addition of the rare earth oxide increases the density of the sintered body and refines the crystal grains.
