Polycrystalline Diamond Die for the Metal Wire Drawing

Polycrystalline diamond die for the metal wire drawing could realize the long tool life and performance results over the tungsten carbide dies.

Metal wire drawing is a metal plastic processing process of drawing a wire rod or wire blank from a die hole of a wire drawing die under the action of a drawing force to produce a small

cross section of a steel wire or a non-ferrous metal wire.

According to the temperature of the metal during drawing, drawing below the recrystallization temperature is cold drawing, drawing above the recrystallization temperature is hot drawing,

and drawing above room temperature and below the recrystallization temperature is warm drawing. Cold drawing is the most common drawing method used in wire and wire production.

During hot drawing, the metal wire is heated before entering the die hole. It is mainly used for the drawing of high melting point metals such as tungsten and molybdenum. During warm

drawing, the metal wire also needs to be heated to a specified temperature by the heater before entering the die hole for drawing. It is mainly used for drawing of zinc wire and difficult-to-

deformed alloy wire such as high-speed steel wire and bearing steel wire.
